Description 'The first time I saw Charles Boyer was in Gaslight with Ingrid Bergman. What a match up. I've been a fan of his movies since' In Gaslight he was plum evil. Speaking with his french accent, with his cold stare when the camera closes up on his eyes, he was dark and scary. It was the gaze of a plotter with a touch of arrogance'. Ingrid Bergman played the confused wife, that was being,... well, 'Gaslighted'. Really great movie!Charles Boyer was a great actor. He was French and made movies from 1920 through 1976He was born on August 28, 1899 in Figeac, France and he died: August 26, 1978, Phoenix, AZOne of the more admirable facts of his life is that he was married to Pat Paterson whom he in 1934 she was 22 and he was 34 and remained married until 1978, which in Hollywood is especially rare.A very tragic event in the Boyer's life was the death of their only son Michael, who committed suicide in 1965 at the age of 21, after an argument with his girlfriend, who he said he could not live without. On the 26th of August 1978 he lost his wife to terminal brain cancer and he himself not being able to stand the loss, Charles Boyer committed suicide two day later at the age of 78. The tragic loss of his only son Michael, may explains the veil of sadness that covered his face whenever he appeared on the silver-screen.
