Description Impression of Chaouen's streets, a blue village in North Marocco.Chaouen was founded in 1741 by Moulay Rachid Ben Ali. Considered a holy city, thanks to the surrounding mountains, remained protected against foreign incursions and prospered thanks to the Muslim refugees' influence coming from Spain. The Andalusian influence is omnipresent in the streets, as you might see in the whitewashed and blue houses.
Raquel De La Viña, Madrid Member Since December 2007 Artist Statement "Why do I paint? I paint because it makes me think about nothing. When I paint the only things that exist are my painting and me". That could be a good phrase to describe what I feel when I take the paintbrush. I spend the whole time unconscious about life.
I started to draw when I was a teenager. I am self-taught. Or not exactly. I mortgaged my pocket money during years to buy a Tom Keating's set of VHS tapes and books. I am still learning, but no more with these tapes.
