Artist Statement I've done so many things I can't remember half of them. At school I was hopeless academically but managed to squeeze into art school. From the Royal College of Art, from where I eventually graduated, I ran a successful art studio in London covering everything from model-making to animation to press cartooning. Fed up with the commercial side of art, I opened a bizarre toyshop with my wife. When we split, I began writing and published thirty or so books mostly for young people. Fed up with publishing, I went back to drawing and taking photographs (only two years ago). I now live alone, splitting my time between my London home (a scary Gothic tower) and a tiny fisherman's cottage (without fisherman!) right on the beach in South Devon.

My artwork is now fairly obsessive. I take thousands of photos and download them onto my computer. I then blow the selected image up so much that the detail would be almost lost to the naked eye. I then draw from the screen in pen-and-ink and colour the images in inks and crayons. As for the future - who knows? I never did know what I wanted to do when I grew up!
