Description Coke ovens in Leetonia, Ohio. Long unused but still there. These ovens converted coal into coke, which was used in the blast furnaces of steel factories. There are many small canals running through here that were to facilitate the movement of coal from the ovens to where it needed to go. They've been turned into a historical site, but it doesn't look as if it's visited very often.
