Artist Statement I lived in Montreal,Oakland, Portland and now Phoenix, next I don't know? I was raised by artists and have a close family of appreciators. The influences on my creative energy are too numerous to list but here are a few.....the 50's ,the 60's, Picasso, James Brown, Jack the Dripper, Louise Nevelson, Diane Arbus,Judy Chicago,the 70's, the 80's, the 90's ,and 2000's, and all the music that goes with it.
A permanent art student I am. I love to learn new ways to create all the while using my favorites. I found photography in the recent years and ultilize that process as a part of the ongoing creation. I take pictures of ongoing paintings and then mix them with my photographs, twist them digitally so they are the original.
I listen to music when I paint but somehow it never has a real bearing on the painting other helping me with my state of mind. I create what I would play if I was a musician. So thanx to all you musicians out there for making my soul dance.
