Description Portrait sketch of the great French Symbolist poet Arthur Rimbaud in 1875 (entitled 'La tronche Machin'), used on the cover of a 1964 paperback edition of Rimbaud's poetic works. This image is a detail from the book cover. The artist is Ernest Delahaye. The book designer is unknown / unattributed. Rimbaud's best-known work is Une Saison en Enfer ('A Season in Hell'), about his relationship with Paul Verlaine. Rimbaud's belief that artistic power could be attained through 'long, intimidating, immense and rational derangement of all the senses' and a devotion to decadence has been highly influential on modern art, literature, and music.
