Current Gallery: Etymologies ( piece)
A photograph can be so much more than just an image. It is the voiceless expression of the person behind and the world in front of the camera. It tells a story. It is a story. “Whatever it grants to vision and whatever its manner, a photograph is always invisible: it is not it that we see.” (Roland Barthes) look within and outside the photograph, listen to others’ opinions, read the words inside the photograph or the ones surrounding it, write about it. If a picture is worth a thousand words, how can we tear the two apart? It is better to bring them together. The pictures that will be on display are heavily interconnected with words and language (and, frequently, song lyrics). One has to look for words inside and outside the photographs to derive meaning.
