Samantha Levin, Brooklyn, NY
Member Since September 2008
Artist Statement Born and raised in rural western Connecticut, Samantha Levin grew up exposed to nature along side of the uber~urban New York City, barely a two~hour drive south. She became interested in the arts at an early age, taking up with both music and visual arts, influenced by the artistic bents of her family members.

Involved in many different facets of the arts for many years, in 1997 she finally focused on her interest in assemblage having become inspired by the art of Joseph Cornell and Edward Kienholtz. Recently, she has begun to explore her fascination with inanimate objects not only in her sculpture, but also in painting and photography.

She attended college at the School of Visual Arts, graduating in 2001 with a BFA in sculpture. She also spent several years studying classic realist oil painting technique with teacher, Andy Reiss, a student of Ted Seth Jacobs, and is currently studying photography from several schools and professional photographers.

Samantha lives and works in her studio in Brooklyn, NY
