Description By kneeling down at the edge of the tarn, it is just possible to see a reflection of Mount Cook in Sealy Tarns, high above the Mount Cook village in the middle of the South Island of New Zealand. The view is not always as sunny - in fact I hiked up here on three consecutive days to take this picture. Late in the afternoon on the first day, a group of mischievous keas (mountain parrots) gathered near my rucksack - they love investigating. Then, the sentinel kea at the top of the track noticed another hiker approaching, undoubtedly bringing more 'toys' for the keas to play with. I have never heard such raucous applause from the keas, as they squawked with joy at the prospect of more mischievous fun.
Mark Harrison, UK Member Since February 2007 Artist Statement I enjoy photographing landscapes and wildlife while travelling. Here you can find some of my favourite photos from New Zealand, Iceland, the Dolomites of Italy, Cornwall and the Orkney and Shetland Islands far in the north of Scotland. I love the beauty of nature and hope that you will enjoy these uplifting photos as much as I enjoyed being there!
