John Callahan, Lake Forest, IL Member Since December 2008 Artist Statement A few years ago, at the age of 75 and being goaded by my heart, my soul began to stir until I finally relented and put brush to canvas. Having spent some time in the Orient, I came into contact with the Chinese concept of “Chi” which resonated with me.
Often emerging in dreams or when I’m simply listening to my heart, all my paintings underscore my belief in the “Chi” life force which is permeating all of existence. I paint in something of a mixed style. Some say it draws inspiration from famed painter Joan Miro mixed with oriental calligraphic themes. One thing is clear. My paintings will always provide new meanings and insights whenever you revisit them. Let their Chi project into your living space and come and be my guest at www.artcallahan.com
