Artist Statement I have been painting since the age of 8. It started with a paint-by-numbers set that I received for Christmas. As a child, art became my escape. It was how I was able to communicate and express myself. Where words failed, art spoke. As a young adult, I painted in my spare time and always dreamed of a career in art. In 2008 I took a leap of faith and started exhibiting my work locally. I received such a welcoming response from the public. At that moment, I understood my journey. That response fueled my confidence. It helped me to understand who I am and who I want to become. I understand that I have talent and that I am supposed to deliver my gift to society. I’ve always known that but now, I have the courage to succeed. That confidence is displayed in my work.

Everyday experiences are my foundation. I combine realism and abstract techniques in order to capture moments, narrate experiences, and provoke memories.

My goal as an artist is to not only develop my style and skills, but to also chronicle my journey. For me, success comes after significance. I want to be known as one of the most significant artists of our time.
