Description The tree itself, symbolizing nature, becomes the family tree, branching off down the height of the poster, terminating in the children generation, our current generation, or generations to come. The fact that the family tree ends implies a level of ambiguity about what is to come in the future. The leaves on tree are symbolic of the generation that they represent so that it is clear that it is both a family tree and a natural tree. The first generation of leaves is presented as vintage photos with photo corners. The second generation is represented as a series of Polaroids for the most recent generation. The young children generation, whose future is indefinite if we do no preserve our natural resources, is represented by crumpled up 4x6 photos of leaves, which are falling to the ground to create a pile of crumpled generic paper. The pile of paper symbolizes the lack of care that our society takes in the recycling of paper and the preservation of trees in our overbearing urban environments. What is to come of our future if we do not take great care in protecting that future through sustainable preservation methods today?
