Julia Claxton graduated from the London College of Printing in 1988 with a BA(Hons) in Photography. Since then her award winning work has been exhibited and reproduced both nationally and internationally. She has also worked as a visiting lecturer and workshop tutor in photography, drawing, printmaking and design at various venues including her alma mater The London College of Printing/London Institute, and as a digital imaging consultant.

Julia Claxton graduated from the London College of Printing in 1988 with a BA(Hons) in Photography. Since then her award winning work has been exhibited and reproduced both nationally and internationally. She has also worked as a visiting lecturer and workshop tutor in photography, drawing, printmaking and design at various venues including her alma mater The London College of Printing/London Institute, and as a digital imaging consultant.

Fulfilling her vision has always entailed constant experiment in both photographic processes and other media. Her work has been described by The Royal Photographic Society as ‘innovative and cutting edge’. Amongst other awards she is a past holder of the Agfa Bursary for Experimental Photography and her work continues to involve exploration of both digital imaging and older photographic processes.

Published and commissioned work includes that for The Observer, The Photographer, The Photographic Journal, The British Journal of Photography, Womens Art Magazine, Oslo Museum of Modern Art, RB Kitaj, Fernhurst Books.

Exhibited work includes that at IDEA - International Digital Exhibition and Awards, The Royal Photographic Society International Print Exhibition, The South Bank Photo Show, Hoopers Gallery, Oslo Museum of Modern Art and several solo shows.

She has also worked as an editor, gardener and garden designer, ranch hand and cowgirl, in interior design and decorating, as a volunteer sub aqua reef surveyor, as a lifeguard, riding instructor, and whatever else seemed appropriate at the time.
