Description The beach has only three simple components, yet is so complete; it lacks nothing. We when we are confused, discourage, anxious, we can go to the sea, surrounded by its simplicity, and be centered. Original poem set on an original digital photo taken on St. Simons Island, Georgia.
Catherine Favole-Gruber, Brunswick Member Since September 2014 Artist Statement Poetry has been a passion of mine since early childhood, and was my focus of study in college for my BA. My work has been published in several journals and won awards; I also teach poetry to for local middle and high-schoolers. Photography is a hobby I was introduced to (and quickly fell in love with) in my 'tween' years by my father with his 1970 Topcon 35mm. Dad gave me his old Topcon when I went to college, and it continues to serve me well, although most often now I pick up my Canon SX40 (or iPhone). I am a simple "backyard poet", finding the grand in the everyday, and reveling in the natural and historical beauty right outside my own door. I live minutes from the beach in beautiful coastal Georgia, which never ceases to provide amazing ideas for poems and photography. Everywhere I look, I see a poem and/or a photo, and so I created Coastal Poetography as a way to share both of my passions.
