Description Colorized photo from 1904Original title: Dudley Street Station, Boston 'L' Ry.Photographer: Detroit Publishing Location: 130 Dudley St, Boston, MAThis is the Dudley street station in Boston, MA. It's an elevated railway system that had its opening on June 10th 1901, it was the original Orange Line. The terminal was designed for efficient transfers between streetcars and subway trains. Many streetcar routs the had operated to downtown, were curtailed to Dudley. There were two elevated loops which offered a cross-platform transfers to Main Line trains. Streetcars on cross town loops were located on the lower level of this station. As the years passed, the station grew in size, flanking out in different directions. But as buses came out, the station wasn't really needed that much any more, that said it lasted till 1987. And they didn't totally remove the station, instead they reused it as a bus depot. The removed the lower 12ft, moved the entire building a 180ft south, and it sits there today. The other buildings that had in 1911 I think are there as well as other structures. In fact this entire location is so different, that its hard to recognize it. If it weren't for that familiar roof, you would have never known any of these buildings were ever there. They even changed its name recently to Nubian Station.
