Description This piece portrays the many acts of police brutality that occurred in Genova, Italy in July 2001. In the four days the G8 meeting took place, the streets were filled with picketers and no-global protesters. This piece focuses on the violence, and in particular the death of the young Carlo Giuliani, killed by the police.
Silvia Faschi, New York City Member Since January 2008 Artist Statement I was born in Florence, Italy, my cradle of inspiration. After having moved with my family to Milan for two years, we then journeyed overseas to America. After having lived in four different states, I proceeded to New York City, where I studied to earn my BFA in illustration at the School of Visual Arts. I have lived and worked in Manhattan for six years, and I can certainly say that this city has both challenged and enhanced my passions. I feel that art is a way for people to experience beauty and to translate their fantasies and dreams into something tangible.
