sixpence for thought thoughts tethered with fraying ropes are stale replays splintering into granular fragments
spinning in circles recombining in disjointed patterns of a broken kaleidoscope
he said i saw they didn't in the end who cares a faulty memory would be a gift
if only thoughts raced in rectangles squares triangles polygons trapezoids
angular rigid anything but the tender infinity of a circle that way lies madness an invitation to the fruit bin enough time to shift the scene i'm going outside to change places with the maid
while she sits in the parlor buried in bread and honey i'll be hanging out the clothes thinking of nothing but blackbirds ~ copyright 2017 RC deWinterThis piece is a composite of a photograph of leatherleaf, its berries and foliage interwoven with geometric design elements created by hand, then painted in digital oils. Leatherleaf is an evergreen shrub that changes color in the fall. In the spring small white flowers bloom and its blue fruit attracts birds to the garden.
