dryad
at the edge of a forest glade the white birch stands alone enshrouded in a curtain of smothering vines a stranger being strangled by these natives with no love for this tall interloper that doesn't belong
on the ground lie broken branches leaves long gone decaying silently as is the tree a bare spire dying
like needs like nothing can survive when wrongly planted in a place unsuited to its essential nature
when next i look in the mirror staring back is the ghost of the white birch tree telling me my own story ~ copyright 2017 RC deWinter
A solitary, slender birch tree is slowly engulfed and strangled by vines, other trees and shrubbery in an early-frosted autumn forest.
